Baby Season Finally Winding Down

Our last baby, a charming American Coot, is growing fast, but still has a long way to go. She fascinates and entertains us while enlightening us about this species that we see often in lakes and ponds, but know so little about. (see our latest Tracks).

We’ve had an onslaught of mostly juvenile raptors in the past few weeks: six immature Cooper’s Hawks, several Red-tailed Hawks, GHO, a Red-shouldered Hawk, and more. Many of these birds are close to emaciation.
